Prairie Village Jamboree Days

Over the last weekend, in the town I live in, we have a Jamboree. Over hundreds of people, tractors, vendors, and cars flock to what is called "Prairie Village". It’s a “town” of sorts where buildings have been moved in to set up a small town. Some of these buildings are from as far back as the 1800’s. It’s a very cool place to go and see how people use to live before technology and the internet. 

Every year they feature a different tractor and this year it just happened to be the International Harvester. The Jamboree features parades, the largest flea market in the area, over 700 antique tractors, antique car show, horse & steam powered threshing, saw mill & machinery demonstrations, tractor pulls, wagon trains, railroad roundhouse and turntable demonstrations, train & carousel rides, evening dinner train, musical entertainment, exhibits, food and family fun.

My dad and I usually make it out there for at least one of the days. We have our usual, blooming onion and Homemade Root Beer float, not to mention a lot of water!

Favorite Nighttime Skin Care Products

Nightly skin care routine 

I haven’t really changed up my nightly routine in a while, I feel why change something that’s working, you know? 

I use to wash my face only when I started to break out. I didn’t have someone who pushed me to wash my face every night. When I was younger my aunt always pushed me to use Mary Kay products, and I would for about 2 weeks. Then I would just stop, I think more of the fact it just wasn’t working with my skin.

I started washing my face twice a day, but at the beginning I didn’t know what I should use that would actually make a difference in my face. I knew what didn’t work for me, theyre all sitting in my cupboards barely used! So I took the leap and tried a skin care system that was recommended on YouTube by Jaclyn Hill. She talked so highly of it that I decided to take the leap and spend the money on it. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t that much more then drug store face products. I just kept asking myself, “will this be any different then EVERY other one I’ve tried?”

I can’t tell you how HAPPY I am with this line. Within the first weeks my skin was so smooth and clean feeling. I never wanted to miss washing my face because I love the way it feels! 

Here’s my secret! The best line I’ve found is the MarioBadescu products. 

                Here’s the fun thing:

1. If you don’t know what you should try, cause lets face it everyone is different. They have this quiz you fill out and they recommend products for you to try.

2. They are botanically-based products

3. They tell you everything that’s in the products, and you can actually understand them! 

4. They don’t have one product for everyone. They have special products for oily, normal, combination, acne prone, EVERYTHING!!!

5. Everything is made right here in the USA

                Alright, so lets get started with what I use daily! 

First, the Enzyme Cleansing Gel,

                The Details:

                It’s a non-foaming gel cleanser. It Contains Papaya and grapefruit extracts that have exfoliating alpha hydroxyl acids that help prevent dulling build-up. Use this twice a day

Second,  CucumberCleansing Lotion

                The Details:

                Has only 4% alcohol, so no nasty burning, stinging feeling, Soothing cucumber extract astringent. Removes residue that clogs pores

Third, Buttermilk Moisturizer

                The Details:

                This hydrates and rejuvenates skin, has a non-pore clogging formula and its anti-inflammatory. Makes your skin feeling fresh, clean, just plan amazing! 

And Last but not least, Facial spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

                The Details:                

                 “A refreshing, hydrating mist to use anywhere anytime. Simply formulated with fragrant Herbal Extracts and Rosewater for a pleasant, pick me up for dehydrated, tight and uncomfortable skin. Spray your day and night creams for a boost of hydration or use it to set make-up or spray on dry hair throughout the day. Safe for all skin types. Gentle, non-irritating.”

I honestly don’t know what I didn’t without these products. They have changed my skin so much for the better that I will never try anything else other then Mario Badescu. Aside from the few “monthly” pimples my skin has never look or felt better. I owe it all to these products.

"Glamour Academy"

This months ipsy bag I was really excited to get, don’t ask me why. For some reason I was, and it turns out for good reason too! 

This month I got 5 products, out of those 5 I’ve heard of two of them.

Lets just dive right in, shall we?

1.       Urban Decay- Revolution Lipstick : The color payoff is amazing! It goes on so creamy and buttery smooth. The color I receive is Anarchy, which is a hot, bright pink. It has no scent either which is good for me scents can sometime be over powering in lipsticks. Something more that would be worn at night for going out.

I’ve heard a lot about these and I’m excited to try them out. Although the color isn’t one I’d wear every day I do plan on trying this out and seeing how I like it!

2.       MICA Beauty Cosmetics- Shimmer powder: Bronze – This stuff I’ve never heard of before.
This is a face and body glitter, is safe to wear on the eyes, face, and body. This can definitely be used for a fun look.
These products are 100% all-natural ingredients. Being made with natural ingredients makes it work better with the oils in your skin to provide flawless coverage.

3.       Pixi Lash Booster Mascara- This line of makeup was created by Petra Strand a makeup artist. The brush is not a plastic brush so I like that. The formula seems pretty runny, we will see if I end up liking this mascara.

4.       Chella – Brow Pencil: I’m super excited to try this brow pencil. It goes on quite smooth, and can be smudged pretty easily. The pigment is very nice to.

5.        MichaelTodd- JoJoba Charcoal Facial Scrub: Unique facial scrub formulated using the powers of jojoba wax beads and activated charcoal to effectively remove dead skin, impurities and toxins. Gentle enough for sensitive and acne prone skin types. Jojoba wax beads provide gentle exfoliations without leaving microlacerations on delicate skin. Highly absorbent activated Charcoal penetrates deeply into pores to draw out impurities and toxins. Refines texture and encourages skin renewal, leaving skin smooth and refreshed.

This smells good, the color however was a little bit of a shocker to me at first. The sample that I received is a pretty good size one so I’m hoping to get a few uses out of it. I’m so excited to try this out. I will have a blog post of a review on this too. 

Over all I think this month’s ipsy bag was a success!

Crazy time.... Wedding Time!!!

I will be back on to regular blogging starting tomorrow.

I took a few days off because of all the excitement around here lately.

My brother finally said  "I DO" to the best woman! I'm so excited for them both to start a new chapter in their life. She make him so incredibly happy, there isnt anyone else that could.

I’m so crazy sorry that I haven’t had a post in a while. Seems like this summer is coming to a fast end, which means my brother’s wedding is finally HERE!!

I’m so excited for it to finally be here, seems like my whole summer has been working to get this wedding put together. Finally, it’s time!. 

I’m not saying I did all of it or anything like that but it’s been a crazy summer helping figure out decorations, putting together bouquets and centerpieces. Plus throwing bridal showers and of course attending the bachelorette party.

                                                                                                                           

Anyways, before a take a little hiatus I figured I’d post a review of my August Birchbox!

Augusts Birchbox theme was “Finishing School”

1.       Juice Beauty- Oil-free moisturizer: This is designed for oily, combination, and blemished prone skin types. It’s also great for all skin types during the hot, humid months. Made without Parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances. Never tested on animals.

“Hydrate, quench and restore your skin's natural moisture balance with this lightweight oil-free moisturizer that contains a blend of certified organic grape and pomegranate, soothing aloe vera, vitamin antioxidants and nutrient-rich sea algae to restore the skin's natural balance.”

My review- I like this moisturizer, it really is good for all skin types during the summer. I haven’t decided if I would purchase it after my sample is gone.

2.       Miss Jessie’s Original- Rapid recovery Treatment& Super Sweetback Treatment:   From what I understand this product is geared more towards curly, wavy hair, sadly, this girl has none of. That isn’t stopping me from trying these treatments. Here’s the awesome thing about this you can go on to their website and get free, yes I said FREE, samples of all their products. So if you’re like me and want to try it before spend a bunch of money on a product you might not use, I suggest getting some samples!!

3.       ModelCo- Party Proof Lipstick: I’m not sure of the color, it’s definitely a color I wouldn’t choose myself. So I’m willing to try it and see if I like the color.

4.       Violet Oasis- 100% Organic Argan Oil: I’m not sure what it is about Argon Oil, but it seems like everyone now days LOVEs this stuff.. I like Everyone else, whose tried it, love it too!. So when I saw this was in the box I got super excited. Argon oil is amazing for hair, nails and skin. It is one product that can be used so many different ways.  The other thing I love so much about this is the fact that it is 100% organic, I’m not sure about you, but if I’m putting something on my face I want to know what’s in it and knowing that this is completely organic and natural makes it’s a million times better.

5.       Birchbox – Bobby Pins:  I love how cute these are, however they are very hard to use. I’ll have to mess with them and see if I can make the work better. I hope that I can figure out a way, because they are adorable.
